“Turn an insecurity into a signature feature”
Yevhen joined the military in early 2025, and in April, he sustained multiple injuries. He had to wait five days to be evacuated.
Unfortunately, due to the severity of his injury, his eye could not be saved.
Yevhen spent two months undergoing rehabilitation after his injury. Finally, he sought specialized ophthalmological care.
At Novyi Zir, Yevhen underwent an enucleation — the surgical removal of the eye. He was then referred to an ocular prosthetics laboratory, where a custom prosthetic eye will be made specifically for him.
Yevhen shared a deeply valuable insight: he has learned to truly appreciate his friends and their support. Often, we simply live at our usual pace — work, home, everyday life — and years go by. But when life throws new challenges our way, we realize how important it is to have people by our side who will support us. And it is with those closest to us that we find the courage to overcome anything.
