While on combat duty, Roman Kuprinenko snatched a bomb from the hands of a civilian, saving the man's life at the cost of his own health. From that moment on, the story of his treatment and recovery began.

His right eye has almost lost function, although his vision is partially preserved (20%). A special lens installed in the eye allows him to see large objects and read large letters, but he cannot distinguish small details. Two surgeries were performed. The eye was partially restored with the help of surgery.

The left eye has 70-75% of vision. With glasses, Roman can read medium-sized letters, use the phone, and navigate in space, although his distance vision is impaired. The eye has chronic degenerative changes but retains vision and remains functional.

We first met Roman in December 2023. Now Roman is waiting for his next procedure – eyelid surgery.

The story of his injury and treatment is in the video.
